Decoy – A portrait session with a twist

How much do you think perspective can influence an outcome? In this video, six photographers are told six fictional stories about the same person. When they are asked to take his picture, each photographer produces a very different image, influenced by their personal view of him.

This experiment by The Lab, Canon Australia, shows us that the stories we believe and the perspectives we assume impact upon the way we see other people and the world. In some ways this is similar to how psychological biases affect our behaviour, or how some people can see a positive outcome in a difficult situation.

In thinking about financial matters, our perspectives can influence our investor behaviour. You can learn more about this in our animation on investor behaviour.
